The Ahalia International Foundation has received approval from the Department of Social Justice – State Nirbhaya Cell Departments to start an SOS Model Home at Ahalia Campus, Palakkad. Thus, Ahalia International Foundation became the 1st NGO to start such a home in the Kerala State. SOS Model Homes for Surviving Girls below 12 years of age are functioning in the Southern Districts of Kerala. But in the Women and Children’s Homes of the Northern Districts, all sections of the survivors, regardless of age, live together. It adversely affects the growth and development of children under 12 years of age.

Ahalia International Foundation applied on October 16, 2020 as against a notification inviting expression of interest to start an SOS Model Home for the very young girls under the age of 12 in the Northern Districts. The Department of Social Justice and State Nirbhaya Cell on 22nd February 2021 gave the administrative approval to start the said SOS Model Home as the physical conditions, capability and health & education infrastructure required to run an SOS Model Home are available in Ahalia campus.SOS Model Home started it’s operations on 1st September 2021 onwards.
